6 Splendid River Cruises

August 4, 2022

River cruises have long been a secret of the well-traveled in Europe.

Unlike their big-ship counterparts, river cruises are sleek, elegant, and refined. The smaller, more intimate ships mean a greater attention to detail when it comes to onboard amenities, furnishings, and meals.

River cruises sail with less than 200 guests onboard - compared to the average ocean cruise ship passenger capacity, which is around 3,000 guests. It is a completely different experience. You can enjoy a relaxed pace of travel that visits some lesser-known spots interspersed with the famous sites - with plenty time to linger, explore, and enjoy the local flavour.

For those concerned about motion sickness, river cruises are much smoother than a cruise ship - instead of sailing on open ocean (which can be wavy and unpredictable), river cruise ships are low and wide, and meander along waterways that are gentle and calm.

And, there are just so many beautiful rivers to explore!
